Poem - by Uke Man, in memory of Uncle Joe, Bill, Mom, and, now, Jeff too.

1999

At the hospital
I helped Mom down the long hallway
to the last room at the end.

"The Price Is Right!" was on
and Uncle Joe was the next contestant.

He didn't hear our
hello's
so I began to peel an orange
for the rest of us.

Just then
(before Bob Barker was ready)
Uncle Joe selected
the Showcase behind the final curtain
and left us there alone . . .

waiting for Don Pardo
to tell us what he'd won.

Hi Tom,
I remember when you wrote this for your Uncle Joe. I had already lost my mother and now have lost my dad as well. Very poignant. You are able to touch the depth of feelings. Sondra
