Letter to the "Dispatch" 8-1-2005
To the Editor,
Jonah Goldberg doesn’t understand why some folks are “whining” about the push for ubiquitous surveillance cameras. He claims they won’t threaten privacy and they will reduce the threat of terrorism. “Decent citizens” shouldn’t mind being watched.
It’s assumed that the good people in government will hover over us all and stop only those they decide are bad. We are expected to believe that the most secretive government of my lifetime should know everything about me and that folks like Dick Cheney and Karl Rove would never misuse that privileged information.
Well, whining about this is not nearly a strong enough reaction.
