"Hubris" is not a spread made of chick-peas

According to Eric Boehlert of “Salon.com”: “Bush aides once welcomed reporter Ron Suskind into the West Wing, invited him to attend some meetings, gave him lengthy interviews and even found him his own desk to work at inside the White House.”

That was in 2002; Suskind has since reported on one of his Whitehouse conversations: “The aide said that guys like me were ‘in what we call the reality-based community,’ which he defined as people who ‘believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.’ I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. ‘That's not the way the world really works anymore,’ he continued. ‘We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.”

Now it’s 2005, and according to “The Washington Post,” a “senior [Bush Administration] official involved in policy” says, “We are in a process of absorbing the factors of the situation we're in and shedding the UNREALITY that dominated at the beginning.

Well, ain’t that just dandy!!!

Bush, Cheney, Rummy, Condy, and the Neo Coneshitheads were partly right. They couldn’t make their empire real; they couldn’t make themselves the “benevolent,” “democratic” dictators of the world; BUT they certainly DID create reality for the thousands of Americans and Iraqis whose deaths they caused. They DID create the reality of suppressing the Bill of Rights and the ignoring of international agreements such as the Geneva Accords. They DID create the reality of a rollback of the people’s standard of living. They DID create the reality of huge war profiteering by the their pals. They HAVE created a hellish reality not only for the majority of Americans, but for the world as well.

The reality they’d hoped for themselves, though, is falling apart!! Hence the statement: “We are in a process of . . . shedding the unreality that dominated at the beginning.”

Well, these mangy dogs can “shed” all they want, but the chickens are coming home to roost and they’re hungry for meat!
