Morality Play
OK. Now we know who “Deep Throat” is (not Linda Lovelace).
What else have we learned?
All the clods who worked for and loved Tricky Dicky call “Throat” a traitor! That raises the question: what constitutes a “traitor”? Can someone who passes on information about criminal activity be called a “traitor”?
In prison the derogatory term is “snitch.” Most of us can probably understand why inmates who get “ratted” on by other inmates would disparage the “informer”; but how many “good” Americans care that “there is no honor among thieves”? Few, I bet. Most Americans, improperly I believe, think lawbreakers should receive harsher punishment than they presently do.
If that is true, it strikes me as neurotic – if not insane – for anyone to disparage the behavior of “Deep Throat.” Moreover, any “conservative,” law and order, God-fearing, upright American who has ANY problem with Deep Throat’s informing on criminal activity is absolutely nuts.
A number of people rightly served time over their corrupt Watergate actions. In many instances you and I could be incarcerated for NOT “ratting” on evil-doers! Deep throat did what the law demands, helped bring criminals to justice, helped save our nation from people who saw themselves as above the law.
In this regard, it doesn’t matter what his motives were. It doesn’t matter what effect obeying and supporting the law may have had on “the future of the nation.” It doesn’t matter what the “rules” of the FBI, or the Beltway, or the Good Ol’ Boy System, or anything else were.
If a poor crack-head who holds up a 7-11 is going to pay; if an over-extended credit card user is going to pay off the banks until his dying day; if a laid-off programmer is going to work at a minimum wage job until he is 70; what’s wrong with power-hungry governmental criminals who disregard their oaths of office and the official morality of their birth nation being called to account for their selfish actions?
Whatever the underlying motivation, facts, desires, and animosities involved; anyone who has a serious problem with Deep Throat’s facilitating the discovery of the truth is an un-American moron.

HI Tom,
Thank goodness we had Deepthroat! Jon Stewart showed clips tonight of some people who think he's a terrible person - Buchanan, Liddy, and Novak. Now, isn't that a heroic group!!!
Thanks for all you write. You're great!! Sondra
"What’s wrong with power-hungry governmental criminals who disregard their oaths of office and the official morality of their birth nation being called to account for their selfish actions?"
Clearly not much according tot he Supreme Court. Afterall, the Supremes lt Arthur Anderson off the hook. All those little people who got the corporation where it is are out millions of bucks, but the company is not responsible. With that reasoning, why would one expect a government criminal to be held accountable for his or her actions? Can you tell I'm spitting nails today?
Buchanan, Liddy, and Novak and their ilk are slimeballs.
