How Would Jesus Lie?

According to radio reports, Donald “Duck” Rumsfeld says we can’t believe reports of torture from “accused terrorists” (whom we’ve recently released without their having been charged or tried for anything). We cannot believe these “accused” terrorists whom we’ve released - even though we apparently released them because they are not (it turns out) terrorists – because terrorists have been trained to lie (that’s what “terrorists” do).

According to today’s Columbus Dispatch, President Bush said, regarding the treatment of Russian “oligarch,” oil tycoon, Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who was charged, tried, convicted, and sentenced by a Russian court, “Here, you’re innocent until proven guilty, and it appeared to us, at least people in my administration, that it looked like he had been adjudged guilty prior to having a fair trial.”

The article further reports that the “oligarch’s” oil company wants to keep “ a spotlight on doubts about the rule of law in Russia.” Khodorkovsky is a billionaire; maybe he could donate funds to shine a light on the dubiousness of the “rule of law” here in the good ol' US of A!
